The IMP Songwriting Showcase is a statewide compilation of 25 tracks by Iowa-connected artists of all genres. Through March 15, artists across the state of Iowa submitted one original song to the project.
On April 1, 25 finalists were awarded one half-day recording sessions at Flat Black Studios. 23 of these finalists were IMP jury-selected, and two were chosen by fans through Little Village’s IMP Listeners’ Choice voting page.
The project is supported by the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and presented in partnership with Flat Black Studios, Little Village Magazine, the Des Moines Social Club, and Maximum Ames Records. Additional support is provided by Adamantine Spine Moving.
Flat Black recording sessions will take place during the months of April and May. A selection of these 25 tracks will be included in a vinyl pressing released by Maximum Ames Records (submission does not guarantee inclusion).
